Nice wave flights in Utah on Saturday

There were several long wave flights in Utah on Saturday. Dan Wrobel
posted a flight of more than 700K in a Ventus B 16.6 to OLC and York
Zentner flew over 1000K in LM (ASG-29) but appears to have had a
logger failure. His spot trace will be around for a few days:

Congratulations to both for an impressive flight and pushing the
boundary's of the wave in northern Utah. It looks like FAI three
point flights of over 1000K are possible and OLC of 1500K. The
Southern end of the flights was south of Provo and northern end was
about 30 miles north of Logan.

Could have predicted that conditions were going to be great based on a certain local pilot being out of the country :)

Wind was out of the West at about 25 kts in the wave, less at lower altitudes but plenty for running the ridge. Fun day if you dressed warm enough.

Excellent flights Dan and York! Inspiring to see what you guys are doing along the Wasatch. I saw the lenticulars from the ground that day and did a bit of day dreaming...while you guys were actually living it! I'm hoping to be able to join you having fun in my "backyard" when I get my ship finished and flying.

Has there been any effort to establish a wave window in the area?

The flight logs from York's flight were downloaded later this week.

From Lynn Alley:

"By the OLC rules, the flight was 754 miles (1214 km) at an average
speed
of 85.6 mph. By FAI rules it was 581.1 miles (935 km) at 92.1 mph."
