V2 pna support - not LK8000

Just got a V2. Hoping to get WP installed on it. Yes, I read 711's posts.
Where is support for the PNA itself? Mine does not recognize, or show any indication of the SD card.

though I'm not a Winpilot user but I had no problem downloading the
Winpilot PNA file and unzipping this to a formatted micro SD Card
on the device go to explore > Memory card and select the program from there
and it opens normally.
If by chance you have the program saved as a PDA program it's likely not
going to see an executable program type and won't be able to open and run
....just make certain the version you are using is a proper program type or
it will show nothing.
You can also check the memory card itself with a card reader on your PC to
see that there are executable program files

This is probably a dumb question but can the V2 GliderGuider run GlideNavII...as Gregg Leslie posted under another similar thread...you can't beat the simplicity of GNII

I'm guessing - NOT. I think most programs will have to be ported to the PNA (not PDA) architecture and hardware environment (serial ports, internal GPS, display, etc).

I'm a little confused. Is the WP PNA version similar or the same as the Advanced or does it interact with other flight computers such as B-50,302 etc and has the features of the PRO?

I expect it would might work for a few reasons, inclding screen resolution, orientation etc., but just a technical point the V2 is a Windows Mobile 6 device and from that viewpoint differs from typical"PNA"s that use Windows CE only. So more of he old PDA software *might* be able to run on it. I've not touched one so don't want to say. In the big picture Windows Mobile 6.x is kind of the end of the road for Windows based traditional PDAs, Microsoft has moved on to Windows Phone (aka Mobile 7.x) which is highly incompatible with past releases. I'm hoping lots of the innovation out there happens on other platforms, i.e. Android and iOS. And as hard as it is for his Apple fanboi my money is on Android.

Here's a data point:

In September I wanted to see if the new Binatone R350, which was
advertising a 'brighter new display', was any better than my 3 year old
B.350 (it wasn't). I did this by persuading persuaded my local Maplins to
let me stick an SD card in their shop display unit and run up LK8000 3.0d
for a side-by-side comparison in direct sun.

My B.350 uses Windows Mobile 6 and the R350 uses Windows CE 6 .NET. I'd
cloned the SD card, so both PNAs were running identical LK8000 installs.
Both 'just worked'.

A couple of years ago we discovered that older B.350s were running
Windows Mobile 5 but later batches of what was labelled as the same PNA
used Windows Mobile 6. Again, the same version of LK8000 'just ran' on
both machines.

Windows Mobile 6.1 is running on Windows CE 5. Read this carefully...
Windows Mobile is not an operating system.
So if a software works on CE 5, it can work also on any environment based on
CE5 too.
The only problems may be some libraries missing, which is no big deal since
there are plenty of places to get them.
The real issue is about the lack of hardware keys, so if a software counts
on them , it will be in troubles.

There is no "PNA" or "PDA" architecture, at least not more than "HP" "Asus"
"Sony" "DELL" architecture.
They are just hosting an operating system which is the same, on different
hardware.

This is why a decent software can run on a 2002 PDA and on a 2012 PNA.
And mind, latest devices do not use CE 5, they use CE 6, which is quite
different internally to CE 5.
Windows CE 6 (for example, Holux 61CS is based on CE 6) has no more the 32M
memory limit per process.
The CE engine is very fast compared to any other OS (and I have been using
Linux since 1994!).
It is also very well documented, and in full source code.
The problem is: user interface is a disaster, and at microsoft they never
really understood it was such a shame.
