planning on a trip to Atlantic City and was wondering what you thought might
be the best landing spot.
I heard there may be security issues at AIY if you are planning an
overnight???
if I go to ACY how do I get to town?

just wondering,
Thanks, Mark

No way would I leave my plane overnight at Bader.
There is regular transportation between ACY and the action--it's about 20
minutes.

I was just down at Bader about 3 weeks ago. Arrived just after dark. Called a
cab on cell phone, no problem. I will say this though. The airport is vacant
and not at all secure. The gate was not locked, there is no FBO and there is
zero lighting in the parking area. Very difficult to find your way to the gate
in the dark after parking. If you go - Taxi over next to the baseball stadium
park your plane and bring your flashlight to find the gate if arriving after
dark.

I agree that it is less than comforting to leave your plane there unattended,
but it is very convenient to the casino's. Plus the approach over the casino's
is pretty cool.

Bader is in a crappy area (as is all of Atlantic City...) It's worth
those few extra bucks to take a cab from Pomona (where ACY is) than to
get back to your plane, find the hubcaps gone, and "Da Moon Rulz #1"
scratched into the paint.

Atlantic City is a dump... Thank goodness - makes it easy for me not to go
there and not to support the city.

Yeah, and the funny thing is they allowed casinos to come in because
Atlantic City was.... a dump.

Actually, when I was a kid in the late 50's I went there and used to enjoy
hanging out on the boardwalk with my brothers. It may have been a dump then
as well - all I remember is salt water taffy, arcades and the amusement
park.

Thanks for all the responses..
I think I've made up my mind..
ACY it is.....
Why wouldn't someone like Donald Trump get involved in fixing this place
up..
What a benefit it would be!!!!

Because Trump's plane can't land on a 2900' runway...

And somebody's gotta work at the casino! I'm sure Trump is not complaining
that he's getting cheap labor who live in a dump?

The City government HATES the airport, the big developers (like Trump) HATE the
airport (all it means to them is acres and acres that COULD be another
casino/hotel.)

Logically it would make a very good FBO location IF the City would cooperate
with propective operators and put so many obstacles in the way of running a
business there.

Trump would be happy to. That runway would make a nice parking lot for a new casino.

I've wondered if Bader (AIY) can remain open while there is a game
being played at the stadium directly adjacent to the field. Wouldn't it
violate the blanket "sporting event" TFR?

no. there aren't enough people in the stands to qualify. it's a small league.
