View Full Version : Canopy gas spring for DG600
Hello all,
Does anyone have the specifications for the Canopy Gas cylinder in a DG600 (pressure, compressed/extended length)?
Thanks in advance,

Look closely at the body of the cylinder and you should find the force
specification (probably in Newtons) printed on it. Measure the length
carefully, closed and extended, and the diameters of the mounting holes. I
did this for the front door struts on my LAK trailer and bought them at
McMaster-Carr.
Good luck!

Contact Chris Klix at Pacific Coast Aero. He is the DG Rep in the western US and may have the data available.
I've been able to read the part numbers on older LS gliders. Did the make/model information get worn off the strut?

Thanks Bill,
Yes the label is worn down to a bright silvery look over the years. Looks nice but it's low on information value ;-)

Once you have the specs, try Suspa.com. Nice small friendly company many of us have used already. They can make custom length and force gas springs. If you're lucky the eyelets can be re-used by simply unscrewing the existing ones and screwing onto the new spring. Having the diameter of the shiny rod helps here for thread size. The only compromise I had to make was the width of the eyelets on my new spring were narrower, so I had to add additional spacers to the two existing ones. Mine was around $100 being custom made.
