Katie Couric of NBC is in Chicago today for Today. She interviewed
Mayor Daley about what a great job she was doing with the city. She
then asked him about the plans to expand O'Hare Airport and noted that
there was some opposition to this.

Daley responded that they were moving ahead and that all airports needed
to be expanded from time to time and airports are the economic engine
for every city.

Katie then quickly moved on to another favorite topic of Daley, gun
control.

Yep, that good ol' Katie Couric is known nationally for her hardball,
no-nonsense approach...

What did you expect? The Today Show is pap.

> Course, remember who was interviewing him.

Remember Mike Royko (the old acidic, tell-it-like-it-is columnist at the
Chicago Tribune)?

That's the guy we need to interview King Daley. Daley would be whimpering
by the end.

Too bad ol' Mike is pushing up daisies...

His "replacement" (NOBODY can replace Royko, the guy that happens to have
his column space), John Kass does a pretty good job of calling Daley and his
syndicate on their fouls (like one of his political appointees who brazenly
carries an illegal concealed weapon, despite having no law enforcement
background in violation of state, city and county laws). The only problem
is, it's Chicago, and nobody seems to care. It's just accepted that he'll
remain in office as long as he wants.

Makes one wonder if Al Capone and Mayor Dailey are related.
Where is Elliot Ness when we need him?
