My observations in our local club, at other clubs, in the Regions, and
nationally, a large number of the people running those clubs, those
Regional events, running the SSA, and spending their time and money to
represent us to the FAA, and overseas at the IGC and elsewhere, are or
were competition pilots. Competition pilots do far more work for soaring
than their numbers suggest.
