No not me, I have only 90 or so hours and no money. It will belong to
a friend of mine who recently decided that he probably won't live
forever so he'd best enjoy things while he can and bought himself a
nice V tail Bonanza.

Not sure about the model but it has an injected Continental IO-550 and
constant speed prop. It's pretty well equipped, has factory Ox and a
storm scope and the usual dual VOR's and coms.

It's very likely that I will get to ride in this machine and handle
the controls as it has dual yokes.

Can anyone point me to some online information that could help me get
familiar with the performance characteristics and flight procedures?

The reason I ask, rather than just read the POH is because the
airplane isn't here yet, it has to be ferried here and we don't know
when that will happen: Depends on the availability of the ferry pilot
and weather.

I have never seen the 196 take more than a few seconds to lock on. I think
there is something wrong with your stick antenna. I would send it back if it
is still under warranty. One thing you could try is to borrow somebody
else's antenna and see if it works any better.

The stick antenna and the remote antenna are basically the same and should
perform the same. The only reason for the remote is to give you increased
flexibility in antenna location.

My own handheld GPS is a 295, which I will keep until a '296' comes out.
Several people here at PAVCO use the 196, though, and they are thrilled with
it. A lot of the students and renters use it, too.
