We need a bluetooth (or wired) stick controller interface for XC Soar. Similar to the common ones. Would not be a huge effort........

Anybody working on this? Anyone build one themselves?

I was thinking the same thing, but it should not be for just xcsoar.

I am however unsure if the available LXNAV sticks are not suitable to
hook up to some sort of GPIO[1] system (maybe IOIO?). They are not
extremely cheap, but at least they already exist.

Maybe someone owning an LXNAV stick can share a bit of info about how
it connects to the LXNAV devices?

I have pre-ordered a ringbow:

Very interesting. At $55 bucks that is alot cheaper than a $350 ClearNav stick or $135 for the module. And, no wiring!

Thanks!

Price list for ClearNav stick, for reference.

When is the Ringbow supposed to deliver to kickstarter backers??????

I did the same thing. If it works great tool, if not...

I looked at the demo and read the description and I don't see how it helps,
since I only use my Streak to run XCSoar.

I would love to have a device like this that has a cursor and would enable
gesturing, and selecting, but it appears that it's used in conjunction with
touching the screen. If I need to touch the screen anyway, how does this
help?

If someone could explain to me how I could use this and *not* have to reach
up and touch the Streak, I'd order one right away.

Works via Bluetooth. Like a mini mouse on your forefinger controlled with a thumb. Guide the pointer to what you want to select then click with thumb. In a few minutes this would be second nature and problem of reaching XC soar without reaching forward solved!
