The 4-day contest in Hutchinson (Yoder), KS running July 4-7, and the 11-day Moriarty 13.5m Super Regional running August 20-30, are being organized specifically for gliders with a SSA handicap factor equal to or greater than 1.11. This handicap range includes all the previously established 13.5m class gliders and of course the long-lived 1-26 class, but also ALL other “small wing” and “light wing-loading” gliders that will now be able to compete in a much fairer set-up with tasks specifically designed for their range of performance.

The Super Regional is being run concurrently with the 10 day 1-26 Championships, August 20-29, at Moriarty, and shares a combined 60 sailplane limit with the Championships. The Region 10 4-day “low-performance” contest at Hutchinson (Yoder) in July is limited to 20 entrants with 10 inverted entry slots. The Hutchinson and 13.5m Super Regional contests will use Sports Class rules and should provide all pilots of gliders with high SSA handicap factors with opportunities to get together and share experiences, race tasks specifically designed for them, and enjoy the traditional camaraderie and fun at the light end of Soaring.

If you want to attend either of these ground-breaking contests, sign up as soon as possible to ensure your place on the grid!
