NTSB is reporting that 2-33a N1211S was dinged on 4 Aug at Erwinna, Pa.........No other details, but the owner may have the wing you need. Type in the N number on FAA web page to get owners name and address.

JJ, isn't that like reading the obituaries to find a good used car.

There were two other 2-33's damaged at Van Sant in the past year, one in hurricane Sandy, the other in the mis-rigging take-off accident. Not sure if both were CAP assets or status of repairs or salvage.

I have chased parts for the better part of 40 years and usually found them in wrecked ships.

Where do you think replacement parts for an out of production aircraft, come from?

Not sure about the current status, but when I visited a large Florida club nearly four years ago, I was told their entire fleet was from insurance salvage.

Try Larry Stahl, Grant county airport, Petersburg WV. 304-257-4435
I bought a 2-33 wing from Larry several years ago. At that time he had a lot of 2-33 parts including some wings in various conditions.

When people are scrounging for used parts, you know the end is near. Start budgeting for a new glider.

Or it is time to start building new 2-33s again (or at least new parts).

Huh? There has been a good market for used 2-33 parts for at least the
last 20 years that I know of, and probably much longer than that.

An air cadet landed a 2-33 on the flat roof of a convenience this morning.
If you scroll down to the bottom photo, the right wing of this glider appears to be in pretty good shape.

(Pilot was lucky to avoid the power lines and had only minor injuries.)

Knowing the Air Cadets, they'll rebuild the bird and having it flying soon. They take VERY good care of their 2-33 fleet.

Thirty-three years ago, I was flying C-FDXP, the 3rd production 2-33... the Air Cadets still have it flying today.

Actually, K&L Soaring (Kyle and Less Schweizer) rebuild the Canadian Fleet of 2-33's and support all the Schweizer gliders at present.

Phone (607) 594-3329

They are very helpful and have many parts on hand and also have the production jigs.

Or, just wait for it to show up on AIG Salvage.
