View Full Version : 3D Glider Models - Help Requested

Can anyone please help us?

We are currently working on a project to build a linear hangar to house 12
gliders in two rows, with full access from both the long sides so that any
single glider can be extracted without moving any other glider. It has been
done a number of times before, particularly at Omarama, but gliders are
growing into new shapes with curved and upswept wings that have high tips.

We have a basic 3D model of the structure written with the free version of
SketchUp but we need to populate this with models of the more challenging
gliders - in particular some DG1000s and Duo Discus XLs. I have found an
excellent model of an Arcus, but unfortunately we do not have a real one to
go in the hangar.....

If anyone has a file for either of these gliders that is compatible with
the non-pro version of SketchUp - preferably a .SKB file - we would be very
grateful for a copy. An ASG29 or a JS1(b or c) would also be useful, but
the dimensions of these are rather less critical and we have a Ventus 2C
file we can use instead if necessary.

Many thanks

Mike

Given the ease with which tips on The Duo, Ventus and similar gliders can
be removed it is probably easier, and safer, to remove the tips and store
them in racks on the hangar pillars. This is what I have seen in this type
of hangar at the Scottish Gliding Centre, Portmoak. Tips can be refitted in
a matter of seconds.

Very curious. What club is building this hangar?
