Oudie IGC

There has been some speculation on RAS in the last few days about an IGC approved Oudie. Today, Naviter announced the new Oudie IGC at:

The Oudie IGC is based on collaboration between Naviter and LX Nav and features the large internal battery of the Oudie 3 (12 hrs) and a built-in Nano flight recorder.

At the moment, the IGC approval is pending and units will not be sold until IGC approval is obtained. SeeYou Mobile is an integral part of the Oudie IGC approval application, so other software can not be run on the IGC version.

So it does include a vario, contrary to my speculation in the other thread. A pity the hardware unit has to be restricted to SYM only, so it has to be an investment for gliding only (on any other Oudie you can run a different nav program for power flying, or you can choose a different glide computer program.) A great device however for the XC pilot who wants to be able to move between different gliders.

I don't think there is any reason why you can't install other programs, but any flight log generated by the unit would not pass the IGC security check.

So if you were installing something for power flying, the IGC security would not be an issue.

The Nano is no longer certified without SYM?

Is it a crippled Nano they are using in the Oudie? My Nano is fine on its own.
