View Full Version : What's wrong with this invention (personal vtol) ?

Hi Folks,

I recently had a vision - in fact, it was the week of the Wright
Brothers 100th anniversary - for what it's worth... single occupant
VTOLs...

Look at the quicktime video and tell me if my idea has merit.

http://www.worlddatabase.com/flyz.mov

It was a strange vision - and >I< think it will fly.

FYI - The pilot stands in the vehicle...

I'm not an engineer or a pilot, and would like to hear the thoughts of
others smarter than me.

Will it fly?

I need a job anyway, so if someone can hire me to build these things,
I'm ready to get to work. ;-)

Well, it wouldn't *fly*, it would hover at best. Similar things have been
tried before. It would be horribly loud, inefficient and dangerous;
depending solely on engines to keep it from augering in.

But if you do build one, land it in my yard next fall. It'll save me from a
lot of raking.

lol (you didn't want those hedges did you?)

I don't know why I needed to bounce that off the WORLD to see the obvious.

It would just hover.. then crash....
