Hi Folks,

I'm trying to get a feel for how many countries use inches of mercury and
how many use millibars/hectopascals for altimeter settings.

If you know what particular countries are using, I'd very much appreciate a
quick post.

Many thanks,

CC

Well, I can't speak for all of the countries, but last summer I had a chance
to fly in the UK for the first time ever.

When we were going over the preflight information, the checkride instructor
was talking about setting the pressure to millibars. When I casually
mentioned, "Wow. Millibars. That's really going to take an adjustment!" the
instructor casually replied (in typical dry British tone...) "You're in the
rest of the world now. Get used to it!"
