I'm surprised no one has brought this up:
Yesterday, King Daley and his minions announced that Chicago will be
pursuing...
....here it comes...
....a GAMBLING CASINO! *gasp!*
I know you're all shocked.
The location has "still not been decided."
Yeah, right.

Most of them are dead. They don't have a choice.

Well, I'm surprised that such an upstanding civic government would conduct
themselves in that manner.

Not that it's relevant (although I share your sentiments), but that
photo appears doctored to me. Also, the caption claims that the picture
was taken from the observation deck of the John Hancock building. The
angle at which the picture was taken appears to be at a much lower height
than that. Could be wrong though.
BTW, what's the new default airport for MSFS?
Seattle is the new default. At least, that is what pops up in mine. BTW,
is there a way to change the default airport in MSFS to something else?
Every time it loads, I do not always want to set my airport.

Put yourself somewhere, save the flight, when saving select "use this
as the default flight".
I forget where the option to bypass the opening screen which skips the
pick place, pick plane, date, time, etc windows is hidden, but it's in
there too. Once you've done this you'll just pop up in the
pre-selected aircraft at the new default airport. For packaged (came
with FS) aircraft the panel state is also saved.
Luck.

I will try this tonight and see if it changes mine. I get tired of Seattle
popping up every time I start the game. I change it to a local airport
everytime, so I might as well make that the default.

Jay,
Not only does Dickie Daley want a casino in Chicago, he wants the license
issued to the CITY, and the CITY would build and run it, and collect all the
profits. Is it just me, or is King Richard II's administration the LAST one
I'd trust with vast sums of money?
Anyone?

Anyone have a recent news link to this announcement?

Governor Blagovozychilmwric (or whatever) said a Chicago casino isn't going
to happen as they are only supposed to go into economically depressed areas.
Further, Attorney General Lisa Madigan sez the Gaming Board improperly
awarded a casino license in Rosemont, IL (home of Mobz 'R Us; right next to
O'Hare). And Madigan might just have the balls (and her daddy does have the
power) to make it stick.
You'll notice that Vegas has had to dump that whole "family oriented" thing
and go back to trying to attract the whole hard-core losers, I mean gamers,
crowd. Maybe the bloom is finally coming off that rose. To each his own, and
all of that, but I really don't like gambling!

"The mayor would not say where the city-owned, privately operated casino
should be located, beyond suggesting he is primarily looking downtown. He
did rule out residential neighborhoods, Navy Pier and Northerly Island, the
former home of Meigs Field. He equivocated when asked about rumors that a
gaming complex might be located around McCormick Place."

You forget though, Chicago Casinos would also have a family atmosphere.
Just a different kind of "family" It will be "family" and "family" managed,
and "the family" will get most of the money.
Don't worry though, Daley spent too much money getting Blogoavich elected
not to have him do whatever he wants. Remember, his (the Gov's) father in
law is a Daley cronie too.

Recent news articles have reported that McCormick Place employs many ex-cons.
That makes sense........ to have mob business close to home(sic).

Somehow, considering the facts that a.) Lisa was pushing the governor
to create new casino licenses a few weeks ago and that b.) her
announcement that she was planning on killing the Rosemont deal came
within a half an hour of the governor saying he wouldn't create a
license for Chicago, I seriously doubt that her decision regarding
Rosemont had anything to do with the "integrity of gaming in Illinois"
as she likes to claim. She claims she made the decision regarding
Rosemont because the Gaming Board hadn't answered her questions to her
satisfaction but on April 8 the Gaming Board not only responded to her
inquiries at that time as she requested but they also told one of her
representatives who was present (since she herself chose not to
attend) that they were willing to answer as many questions as she
wanted and were willing to stay all night if necessary. Her
representative asked if they can do it another time, the Gaming Board
said basically "OK but we'd prefer to get it out of the way now so
that we can resolve this." As far as I can tell from the press,
Madigan's next step was to pull the rug out from under the Gaming
Board, Rosemont, and the governor in a move that will cost the state
around $400 million for what may reasonably be perceived to be
political retaliation.
Lisa set up the auction herself in January, she knew Rosemont would
have companies bidding for them as a location, and yet she couldn't be
bothered to say that Rosemont wasn't an acceptable location (to her)
until after the auction had closed. And of course it has nothing to
do with party infighting with the governor or the fact that she
received campaign contributions from Rosemont's competition for the
casino license.
So when you see taxes and fees raised and state services cut to
fill that $400 million dollar hole in the state budget that she made,
make sure that you smile and say "Well at least the state's gaming
still has integrity thanks to Lisa Madigan!" and remember it when she
runs for governor.
