Page 16 of the V7 version 3.01 user manual discusses navigating with the V7, and has an image of the instrument in course direction mode.

But I can't find any discussion of how the V7 knows where to navigate to (other than going "home"), or even how to get into "Navigate" mode.

My Oudie has a task upload feature for the V7 (which I haven't yet been able to get to work) so clearly the V7 has some turnpoint storage capabilities that it does not discuss in the manual.

Can anyone shed any light on these topics, or point me to better information?

thanks

The V7 cannot store turnpoints, but when connected to a device such as the Oudie should be able to provide navigation info to the target that is active in the Oudie.

The manual also states on that page: "If GPS is transmitting RMB sentences, LXNAV V7 will automatically calculate final glide to that point."
NMEA RMB sentences contain information about destination, distance to and bearing to.

Make sure the GPS or PDA is outputting NMEA RMB sentence.

I have just spied a comment in V7 version 3.01 update.
"Version 3.01
V7D can't shut down master unit
Able to receive target information from PNA"

Maybe it was not looking at target information from the PDA/PNA port before version 3.01.

ah, yes - Ver 3.01 added the menu function on the V7 to receive data from PNA.

So this will work only if 3.01 (or later) is installed and the menu item s selected.
