This MkIX was sold for restoration from Jack Barnett's scrap yard in
Maitland, South Africa, where it served as a gate guard through the
1950's & 60's. Restorers were able to dig through Barnett's scrap yard
to find parts for other former SAAF aircraft including Spitfires,
Hurricanes, and Vampires. It was restored to flying condition and
painted to resemble "Evelyn" the Mk9E flown in North Africa & Italy by
ace Bob "Johnnie" Johnson.
