Anywhere Map or Teletype?

I just finally replaced my ancient Palm V with an iPAQ 1945, and while I was
there I got an HP Bluetooth GPS. Anyone have any advice on aviation
packages, i.e. AnywhereMap or Teletype? They both look great on paper.
I have a 530/430 in the plane, so this is strictly for
backup, a way to not spend $1600 on a Garmin 296.

I'm also worried about hardware compatibility. Is anyone out there running
either of these packages on this particular hardware combination?

I have an Ipaq5555 and Controlvisions own Tracker
Blue GPS. I also have their weather option with the
satphone. It's probably the cheapest way to get inflight
weather, weather that's pretty darn good to look at
anyway. They have an option for using a cellphone
also, check the legality of that though in the air.
I'm very happy with my system, have had it for about
3 years now. It's not as simple as a stand alone unit
like a 296, but theres alot it does the 296 or others
like it will never be able to do. The software
updates are often, some more significant than others.
The database updates are online and probably alot
cheaper than any stand alone unit if you keep it up
to date every 28 days, as AnywhereMap is.
As far as your hardware, can't say how well it'll work.
You'd have to ask Controlvision if that GPS works
with their software. After a while with AnywhereMap
you'd wish they made a certified version and trade in
your Garmins. I've messed with the 430/530
simulators, AWM is more intuitive, in my opinion,
and pretty customizable. Is there a cheap way to get
weather into a 430/530?
Btw, if your HP GPS doesnt work with AnywhereMap,
your Garmins could feed the GPS signal to the Ipaq. I
know people with GNC300XL's can do it.

I use NavAirWx from AirGator. NEXRAD and lightning strike data via the XM
Sat Radio broadcast system, so you have good data about anywhere. If you are
thinking about ControlVision's Sat Phone, and you have a KT-76A transponder,
there have been some reports of poor connectivity due to interference
between the two devices. That is why I went with the WxWorx receiver via
NavAirWx software.

I am running this on a Toshiba e755 with CF GPS Card.

Navigated around a line of T-storms in NC last weekend. Wouldn't have made
the trip without it.
