View Full Version : Lightspeed 15XL-C?

I'd rather be flying
June 23rd 04, 12:08 AM
Hello,
I am thinking of buying myself a good ANR headset. Does anyone have any
experience with Lightspeed headsets? The one I have in mind and really like
is Lightspeed 15XL-C.
Is anyone happy with them (Lightspeed in general)? Or should I look at
another brand (I am looking for something under $400 US if possible).

Thanks everyone
Richard

Check the google groups archive for "lightspeed group:*aviation*". This
topic comes up periodically, and it seems to be people asking about
Lightspeed more often than not. There's lots of good headset
discussions in the archives.

True -- HOWEVER: Much of the archive is made up of me (and others) bitching
about Lightspeed quality. That's old news now.

Lightspeed has made major strides in quality control over the last 12 - 18
months. The 3G series may *look* similar to their earlier models, but they
are MUCH more robust without sacrificing comfort or performance.

I own three pair of them now, and I'll never wear anything else.

(Meanwhile, my old pair of 20s are back on the fritz, with an intermittent
mike. The old series was absolute junk, so make sure you get the NEW
series.)

So... What are you going to do about it?
Repair or upgrade? ;-))

I have the lightspeed 30-3G and love it. I had a problem with the mic
once but lightspeed fixed it right away and even sent me a free mic
adapter cord for my cell phone.

It's now an "extra" pair (after winning that new set of Twenty 3Gs at the
Cherokee Fly-In last weekend), so I'll probably just get it fixed -- again.

I'm happy with my 15XL set so far. I've had it about a year. I like the
auto shut off feature. Saves a lot of batteries.
