Potential OSH Entertainment

As a followup posting to my "Why fly fast approaches?", I have an idea
for some evening entertainment.
Does anyone have an old police radar gun?
If Jay parks in the same area as last year, we can "grade" each
approach of arrivals based on their aircraft type and approach speed.
If someone brings a laptop, we can create a spreadsheet and develop
some realworld statistics about pilots and their approach speeds.

Just remember to factor in the wind (probably convert to mph unless you
have a radar gun that works in knots). Radar gun will be measuring
ground speed, not airspeed.

Now that is about the most interesting I read in this group since Jay
got his ear beat by those religious zealots. I'd love to see those
results (the radar results, not the earbeating results).

While that *would* be fun (especially with "grading" signs and some
muzzleloader!), I doubt it would reflect real-world approach speeds.

I've flown into OSH four times now, and each approach has been bizarre and
unusual -- certainly nothing like my "normal" approaches.

Ah, come on, Jay!
Everybody knows that the majority of pilots arriving at OSH
1) don't read the NOTAM
and
2) don't pay any attention to tower's instructions
Besides, we can monitor the tower frequency and add an additional score
for following instructions.

It would be great fun, but I gotta think that the controllers urging people
to keep the speed up, and whatnot, may make the data meaningless.

One thing I've got to say,: Everyone that flys in, remember, if you are told
to do a 360 for spacing, or go around, or whatever, remember to FLY THE
PLANE! Past years sometimes involve the *low stall spin* fatalities.
