I'm trying to set up message rules to filter out all the smut that is
starting to show up here.
I notice that, when I set up subject keywords to delete, the messages that
have a subject line ending in a number don't disappear. These are all 17 KB
long. Does anyone know how this creep is protecting them and how I can kill
them before my wife or kids see them?

I haven't seen any of these, so whatever I've done has apparently killed
them. A lot of the smut spammers deliberately misspell words so that your
filter will miss them.

The easiest way is to use the message rules to send everything from
a selected senders to a clean folder. Then send everything
else to a "spam" folder for later review. Gradually you'll have the
ones you want to recieve email from set up.
On our corporate network we use a Webshield appliance using
Spam Killer. I believe Spam Killer is available in a single pc version.

Another way is to look at the most common methods of mis-spelling the
offending words and adding them to your filters also - it's proved pretty
successful for me so far.
