The bodies of the couple, who had flown from Liverpool John Lennon
Airport, were recovered by divers on Monday.

Not to be morbid...
The Brits name airports after rockstars!
COOL!!!
So where in the USA are:
- Ricky Nelson Field
- Buddy Holly Airport
- Jimi Hendrix Field
- Allman Brothers Airport
(any others?)

John Lennon was MUCH more than that.

Wow, and I though *I* had a twisted sense of humor...

After all, I'm the guy who came up with plans for aviation theme suites
like:

-The Hindenburg Suite
-The Lockerbie Suite
-The Experimental Suite
-The Bong Suite

....and dozens more just like them, only to be shot down by Mary....

I like the name of a restaurant listed in Flight Guide at Duluth:
Afterburner...

Do those that use the Bong suite generally know it was named for a fighter
ace and not a device?

These are suite names that we REJECTED, on the basis of their double
entendre names...

Thus, we have no Bong Suite. (Although a "Lightning Suite" is in the
works...)

I think that John Lennon was more than a rock star. I lived in Britain
for a while postwar, and it was a dreary place. Bad heat, bad food,
bad clothing, bad dentistry... The Beatles were the first sound of joy
that poor old island had heard in many a year. After the Beatles (and
especially after the Beatles "found" America) ("went to Iceland and
turned left:"), things began to look up.

A name like that says to me "Don't eat the chili".

Medication did wonders for me, Dave. Perhaps it could for you, if a
crowbar and half a pound of axle grease counts as medication.

There is a place here in California (down by Bakersfield) called Nellie's
Nipple. It is currently in BLM conservation. I'd LOVE to establish an airport
there.

(Not to be confused with the mountain in Arizona of the same name.)

If you'd like to read a good book about the P-38 Lightning, with many good
tales of McGuire and Bong, read "Fork-Tailed Devil" by Martin Caidin.

Personally, I think of it as the definitive book on the P-38.

Read it in hardcover many, many years ago. Also see:

I was wondering if the "Bong Suite" had a portrait of Tommy Chong in the room??
