I think it was just a fly past. Note that it's over grass...one of the grass
runways of White Waltham according to the caption.

This was a flypast at the 1977 White Waltham Airshow...ISTR the pilot got a
bit of a telling off from the Chief Pilot.

I remember being at that show, the VC10 display was very dramatic - it did
several passes, very fast and low - the pilot was really chucking it about -
the spectators loved it - myself included!
