Discovery aired a documentary on Space Ship One last night, which I thought
was outstanding. It was called "Dark Sky: The Race for Space."

In it, they had many "behind-the-scenes" shots and interviews with Burt
Rutan, the pilots, and even a few moments of the elusive Paul Allen, Rutan's
sponsor.

Best of all, during a commercial break, I flipped over to CNN -- where they
were interviewing Rutan at his home, discussing today's upcoming flight
attempt. During the interview it became apparent that everyone in the
house was tuned to The Discovery Channel, watching the same documentary!

When Rutan said "It's back on!" I knew it was time to switch back to
Discovery...

Man, that must've burned CNN's cookies...

Saw that Jay! It was "Black Sky", but yours was close enough. That
Melvill's got balls.

What a great country we live in!

I saw the show myself and it was an excellent documentary. I just wanted to
mention that the second part of that documentary will air on Thursday.
Obviously, the second part will feature a story on today's flight.

Good program. The documentary contain some details about how serious the
flights really have been. There have been some real problems that were
successfully resolved that had not been previously revealed.

I agree - it was a fantstic show.
The on-board camera views were great!

One thing that is fascinating is just how passionate Burt Rutan
is - and the dedication he has to his people.
It is shared by everyone.
He genuinely is ecited about every aspect - every detail - of
what it takes. Amazing!
