Hello. I'm a CFI planning on doing training for the new Light Sport
Pilot certificate. I put together a very short survey about attitudes
towards LSP, and requesting some information that might be helpful in
serving this market. It is an anonymous survey, and it only takes a
few minutes. I'd greatly appreciate any help you could give me by
taking this poll. The survey is located at:

http://perennialsurvey.com/s.cgi?11750

Thanks in advance,

I think one of the questions was alittle off. I would be very interested in
buying a sport plane but the survey had a starting price of 30000. To steep
for my blood. Sport category planes are all over the place for less than
15,000. Sometimes even alittle less. I think this is going to be good for
GA, it lets more people who may not have the big buck finances to enjoy
flying. As well as people that do not have perfect health but does not
effect their ability to fly a plane. Think about it if only 5,000 people get
the sport pilot, that is 5,000 potential sales for older planes that alot of
people just do not want anymore! The old Aeroncas and Taylorcrafts etc, are
just to slow for most GA pilots now...it's a new life for those old planes!
IF the GA community embraces this new law, otherwise CFI's train for it and
have the equipment for sport pilots, I do feel it could make you alot of
added income.
Another thing to consider is a lack of advertising! Not just on the net
either! GA is the only industry that you never see advertised in a paper or
TV , etc. You can not expect the public to know if they ARE NOT TOLD! Not
everyone thinks of hanging out at the airport cafe! Heck there were CFI's
around here that didn't know about the sport pilot, 99% of the public does
not know yet! Advertise, you might be surprised!

Agree. Also, range of 30 NM? Are you sure that is what you wanted, or did
you mean 300 NM?

are not sport pilots limited in range from home airport that they can fly?

Sport Pilots can get endorsed to fly in B,C, D airspace so the limitations
that were on the old recreational pilot will be null and void. Even the rec
pilots will be able to get the endorsement from my understanding. The main
reason the rec thing never took off was it was only good to fly around the
patch and land. That's why I think this new Sport Category will be great for
GA if the CFI's embrace it...why wouldn't they, it has a money making
opportunity written all over it!

LOL. Yes...I meant 300 NM. I corrected it on the survey site. Thanks :)
