Ballpark? 1 knot per $1000.

Our Cherokee 235 has 'em all.
Best bang for your buck? The full-boot wheel pants. You'll net 5 - 7 knots
from them.
Knots-2-U and Lopresti both make versions of these wheel pants.

That's also the approximate gain you'll get from aileron/flap gap seals,
and I think the gap seal kits from Knot2U, etc are still cheaper than the
wheel pants kits.
Incidentally, the mods are definitely NOT $1000 per knot. Maybe more like
$250-300 per knot.

No way you get 5-7 knots from flap and aileron gap seals. 1-3 maybe.

Agreed. Any company that quotes 5-7 for gap seals is trying to create a gap
in your wallet.

And each one you add helps less and less but costs more and more. A 3
knot speed mod won't get you a full 3 knots if you've already cleaned
up the plane with another speed mod.

I did (approximately). It's been a while, so I don't remember the exact
number, but my cruise speed went up by a definite, measurable amount when
I installed the Knots2U kit. I'm sure it was atleat 5 knots. At the
time, the Knots2U kit was only something like $800.

I did the K2U flap, aileron, stabilitor and fuselage seals along
with the wing root fairing and MetCo tips. All of that gave me
another 7 knots at 75%@7,500 ft. It wasn't worth it for the speed,
but it was well worth it for the handling improvements.

Ditto. I have the above on my 180, except I have K2U wingtips with
landing lights, and wheel pant fairings.
My 180 will do about 152 mph @ 7500 ft @ about 75%. Book is about
144, so an 8 mph gain.
As John mentions, the handling improvements are great. With roll and
pitch being crisper, it is easier to handle gusty crosswinds, and the
pitch authority in flare is much improved. I can now hold the nose
off for quite some time after I land, whereas before the nose would
drop almost immediately after landing.
Also, with the landing light equipped wingtips, night landings are a
breeze with 3 landing lights.

Heh. I don't know what they cost originally, but I just paid a thousand
bucks to have them completely re-done. (The fiberglass was in bad shape,
as was most of the connecting hardware...)
I'd have left them off, but we literally dropped 5 - 7 knots without them.

152 is pretty good.
Thanks everyone If I keep the plane I think I will go with them all.

IIRC, the Piper POH uses a figure of 8 knots speed reduction if
(factory equipped) wheel pants are removed.

That's for the full-coverage wheel pants found on later model
Archers and Warriors (which Jay's modified pants emulate). The early
wheel pants covered only the somewhat aerodynamic part of the gear
(round wheel) and left all of the pointy bits hanging out in the
breeze. Those are good for 1 or 2 knots on a good day.
