View Full Version : Look Both Ways Before You Cross...

"Clear left, clear right." I say it everytime I cross a runway during taxi.
Today was the first time in four years that I saw an aircraft on short
final. I held short and called ground half-expecting the controller to say
that he was a low approach on the ILS. "Ummm well, he shouldn't be there."
At about 100 ft AGL, the Cessna figured out the runway said "14" not "19"
and went around.

Although the controller did reiterate the clearance to taxi to the runway, I
stayed short of the runway until the Cessna was well on his way back to the
pattern. Coulda been ugly.

Thanks Denny. I hope the helps others out there to keep checking the runways
during taxi as part of their habit.
