View Full Version : Garmin 96 Info

Considering replacing my 195 with the 96 or 96C. The Garmin website
claims 25 hours for the 96 or 40 hours for the 96C in, "battery saver
mode." I find it curious that they claim longer life for the color
unit. In my experience the color 295 sucks batteries much faster than
a 195. What kind of battery life is realistic for normal use?
How about the lock on without the remote mount antenna, any problems?
Any other pros/cons?
Thanks,

Don't get rid of your 195!
Look at the screen size of the 96 verses the 195.
The 96 is half the size.

I have the 96c and it sits up on the glare shield. No problems at all
with the signal. Mine is hardwired to the plane by taking the cig
lighter cord and snipping off the part that goes in the cig lighter and
then wiring it to the 12V bus behind the panel with a 1 amp fuse from
Radio Shack.
