For those who have only seen Oshkosh in the blazing heat of summer,
here's what landing on Rwy 27 looks like at this time of year:

Quite a difference between July and December!

Great pictures, Jay. I've been there in March (to talk with the Sonex
people). Quite a change from the fly-in. I'd love to take my
7-year-old, but the trip would be a bit too long (8-10 hours in the
172). The hang glider sim looks cool. I tried that in Kitty Hawk (the
real thing, not a sim). Ate a lot of sand. No rudder on those damned
things :-).

When I first saw that sim, I thought "how stupid!"

Then my son tried it, and had a terrible time hitting the spot. I figured
if HE had a terrible time (at 14, he's a video game whiz, of course) it must
be really tough, and what chance would I have?

Well, I had a blast with that thing, and was able to "bull's-eye" it every
time. Since we were at the museum at the slowest time of year, we had the
sim virtually (sorry!) to ourselves, and were able to "fly" it to our
heart's content.

I really want to try the real thing now!

Just make sure you don't do any "zero G" pushovers. I have read that they
are very hazardous to your health.

Hmmm, who painted the grass white Jay? :-) Just seeing all that wide
open space and wondering where all the tents/planes are is an amazing thing.
