T-6/SNJ Propeller Diameter

I just checked with my neighbor, who owns a nice SNJ and measured the
diameter.

His prop is 108 inches (9 feet) long. He tells me that the prop can be
shortened 20 inches and still be legal, so the correct length for the
T6/SNJ prop is anywhere from 88 inches (7 ft 4 in) to 108 inches (9
feet).

I hope that this ill clarify the issue for the gentleman inquiring for
his scale model.

I think your friend had better check his numbers.
The L-19 prop that I have is only allowed to be shortened by 2" and
still be airworthy. I've never seen a blade that could have 10" removed
and still be airworthy.

Normal T-6 blade is a -12 = 9'1", The USAF also ran a -20 = 8" off each blade,
but that blade is not standard, some Reno races ran it just at Reno.

the restoration, preservation and safe flying of all North American Aviation
built trainer aircraft (AT-6, SNJ, Harvard, NA-64, T-28, TF-51, TB-25). Dues
are $45.00 per year US

Yes -- I checked with my friend today and found that to be true.
