I was putzing around in wave yesterday and noticed what
appears to be a nice airport not on the chart.
East from Bellow Falls. Anybody know this one?

....and street view appears to have a bunch of cars parked on "runway", oh, well.

Flier, beware.

More... after a little wrestling with GE to see where this place actually is, I realize I've driven past on 123 many times. It's not been used as an airport since 1997, I'm certain of that. GE overhead does suggest it may be landable, but I don't think I'll be adding it to our database as there isn't anything nearby that looks very appealing in case this place turns out not to be landable.

I have landed my hang glider there a few times. Years back I remembered seeing some planes parked there. Its well known to the Ascutney hang gliding pilots.

I didn't see any cars on the runway yesterday,
but then I was at 14,000...

Ludeman's law of obstruction observability -- the observability of any runway obstruction increases as the fourth power of your need to land your glider on the part of the runway so obstructed. :-)

I flew over the abandoned airport at Groveton NH last week and it looked fine. Of course, I had no need to land....

Drewsville NH. I used to fly a Navajo out of there decades ago. Owned by Frank Whitcomb Paving. Once the Navajo was traded for a helicopter the airport was essentially not used for fixed wing a/c.

Thanks Peter!
No idea why there was strong wave there...

Here's another mystery airport, near Grantham. I have not yet put eyeballs on it. Thought to do so yesterday, but was too busy looking at the sky. Glorious...

There are a couple of mystery airports near Tonopah, Nevada. One of them is big enough to land a space ship.

We generally consider *our* mystery airports unlandable until proven otherwise. How about you :-)?

There is more than one where you WILL be greeted by a formal "Welcoming" committee... likely young men with guns in your face...

And you'll get zero points for getting anywhere near them...

The pavement is very cracked, about 730m of length, but big trees RIGHT at both ends. You could get in and out of there with a Pawnee and glider no problem. Common little Cessnas and Pipers have book distances to take off and clear 50ft of 500m-600m, so in theory would be ok. But not all that much room for error or tailwind.
