Alex Franke, Wings & Wheels Want Ads webmaster is set to solo in two weeks on his 14th birthday. Is he going to be the first 4th generation glider pilot? Anyone know of another?

Proud Dad,

Sean Franke

Really cool.
That will make a great photo opportunity. Maybe a video?
We're encouraging our generation glider pilot to wait a while before starting the 4th. He was part of our 3 generations in one contest event six years ago. We think that was a first, at least in the US. McMaster family has since followed suit.

Last I heard from Alan Bikle, they may have 4 generations. But, I think you will be there before them. Looking forward to hearing the official news of his solo flight!

Go Alex! I know he has been ready for a few years. We will be thinking of him.

Cool! Congrats

And that's an interesting thought... Probably would have to ask some German families as they're likely to have the record.

The question has been posted in polish forums, with no positive answer.
Germans are still on the suspects list, nevertheless your 4G might be
setting a new world record.

Congratulations Sean and good luck Alex!

(do not rush for the 5G)

To get more than 4, wouldn't your family have to be rabbits? Anyone have information on when the first 'Soaring' flight took place?
My grandpa 21 generations ago fell off a cliff fighting the Romans in Germania, but all he did was glide. Right pass a beautiful soaring Eagle. He failed, as I often do, to connect the dots passing the bird.
Something tells me your young lad will soar on his birthday.
You should buy him a Discus 2b.
