View Full Version : Piper PA-20 "Pacer" tow-plane/King Mountain Glider Park

August 5th 14, 05:11 PM
This Piper PA-20 Pacer tow-plane was highly modified by its' previous
owner. It has a one-time STC that covers the 180 hp engine, variable
speed prop, Mooney motor mounts and sky-light. John Kangas spent seven
years refurbishing it. It now sports new fabric, leather interior, LED
landing lights on both wing and a video camera on the tow-hook to
monitor the glider being towed.

This video was taken at John's airfield which is named King Mountain
Glider Park and located at 5500 MSL outside of Moore, Idaho. (ID36)

For more info on John's airfield/operation see:

Even though this field has been in the FAA data base for five years,
and a fatality at the site precipatated the forming of the SSA Spot
directory, flights originating from King Mountain Glider Park do not
appear on the SSA Sailplane sailpane tracker page.

The glideports were/are populated by Glideport.aero. I imagine Pedja used some préexisting database as he populated the entire globe to the best of his ability.

To double check that your glideport is not listed please select "show all" in the left hand tab. If you still do not see your glideport please send Pedja an email with your glideports name and latitude longitude. You can find Pedja's email on the glideport.aero site.

Thanks for pointing out a missing site.

Lane,

Thank you for the reply. I've sent Pedja an email describing the
situation and the following link.

As you can see in the link, the field has been in the FAA database for
seven years.

Again, thank you.

I'd like to see video from the tow-hook camera!
