Leaving out the details, it goes roughly like this:
800(A) - original with Rotax engine on the pole.
800B - Mid West or Solo engine in the fuselage
808B - As 800B but with broader chord fin.
808C - As 808B but 600kg MTOW, new engine control, sprung gear,
stronger cockpit

For completeness - DG808S - 800 wing on 600 fuselage - glider only.
