Anyone know the stats on maint. for the R22. I'm wondering what the
most common problems are...cost drivers, etc...interested in hearing
from private owners...any horror stories?

When I started working on robbies I couldn't believe they were helicopters.
They required far less maintenance then any of our fixed wing rentals and
routine 100 hr inspections took less time than a C-172
I recently did experience a down side. A student and instructor oversped the
engine / rotor during hovering practice.
The blades and hub had to go back to the factory for checking and we had to
pull the engine for an overspeed inspection as well.
This will prove costly.

Thanks for the feedback. That's one of my concerns... I was told the
"rules" changed awhile ago regarding reported overspeeds...if you bury
the needles its tough to say what speed you ran up to....I was always
told that following a main rotor overspeed...within 7 to 10 hours you
will start to feel more vibration due to the pitch change bearings
"denting" (for lack of a better word) the bearing race...
looking to buy...flown them awhile..never had to deal to much with the
maint. cost....only report any problems...
