View Full Version : missing runways game

November 28th 14, 06:03 PM
I am in the process of updating the turnpoints files. Several airports are listed at the incorrect location in the official FAA database, commonly the error is .5 - 2 miles.

For example I looked at the coordinates that are listed in the FAA database and found nothing in Google Earth, then I looked for the owners address and found Rays Stall runway 24 miles(!) away from where the FAA data lists it.. http://www.airnav.com/airport/21TN
FAA data: 35-59.116N / 083-05.533W
actual 35:58:847N , 083:32:017W , Rays Stall,21TN

So a little detective work sometimes finds where the runways really are.
Here are some other airports that I never found, can anyone help?

Reagans Roost, http://www.airnav.com/airport/85NC 35-25.751667N / 083-10.007000W
This is one that would be a nice safety spot if it could be found. Current coordinates show it way up a hillside in trees, I don't see anything nearby.

Arrendale Forest Airport, [previously known as Townsend?], http://www.airnav.com/airport/GA45
34-39.610833N / 083-30.066000W

Raby, http://www.airnav.com/airport/8TN3 Near Knoxville.
35-50.500000N / 084-10.866667W

Lanni, http://www.airnav.com/airport/18NC 35-53.341133N / 081-36.822550W

LaDolce Terra, http://www.airnav.com/airport/38SC

Davis SC88, http://www.airnav.com/airport/SC88 35-08.840733N / 081-47.656117W

David 4sc4, http://www.airnav.com/airport/4SC4 34-45.916667N / 082-41.466667W

34:54.017N,084:46.717W, Blue Bird, 37GA - think it gone

Any other suggestions on how to find runways?

Chris, don't make the assumption that Google Earth gives accurate lat / long. There are many discussions about this in other forums and some go back quite a ways. Craig
