No mention of the copy protection.

You don't suppose Microsoft advertise on CNN?

Why should they mention copy-protection?? It's a standard feature with
nearly all games these days. Win XP and Office XP has also got it in the
form of 'Product Activation'.

FS2000 and FS2002 where also copy-protected.

> You don't suppose Microsoft advertise on CNN?

Yup they probably do.

There's also some advertizing within FS2004 itself, in the form of the
'Partners Page' in the Learning Centre. Funny how all the big-jets in FS
are all Boeing, product-placement or what?

But they don't require the user to put a disk in the CD to use the
software.

FS2002 does not require a disk to play.

There are a couple of hacks for that, as detailed recently in this forum
recently.

Yet FS2000 and FS2004 require the key-disk to play

Which is why I have FS2002 with no plans to go to FS2004.

If that is your _only_ reason, then that's is silly. Get a no cd
patch or <shudder> live with a CD in the tray or laying nearby. I
could understand a catalogue of reasons, but a key CD alone? Bah.

Based on others posts the benefit of FS2004 over FS2002 is marginal
(but not zero), which I offset against sending a message to MS
(hopefully I am one of many) that I don't want to keep a CD in my
drive just so I can start the game. Yes there are patches (I used one
for FS2000), but they must be found and installed and after a patch
the new patch version (if applicable) must be found and installed.
While I used to be a computer programmer, I now see myself as a pilot
and don't wish to spend my time trying to get around a short coming in
the software that should not have been there in the first place.

I can only be responsible for my own actions. If I am the only one who
thinks putting the CD in the drive to start the game is a negative,
then what I do doesn't matter. On the other hand, if others feel the
same and make similar buying decisions then what I do will have an
aggregate effect.

Hey Paul,
You are in the majority (but many do opt for the painless and quick fix of
the no-cd patch) - however, poor Dr needs attention, poor soul (sole?), and
gets some ego shiatsu from trying to bring others down to his station in
life by attacking for no apparent or logical reason.
I guess all forms of the species are in the grand scheme of things.
Alas....
Cheers'n beers.

Hi Dr. Speedbyrd,

You say Maybe? A fence-sitter, obviously.

Neither illiterates or fence-sitters are really in the best position to
judge - not that any normal person is too concerned with judging anyway.

The difference between the two people concerned here is that Don is
obviously not an illiterate.

I guess someone like you has fence-sitting inbred though, and, thinking
briefly about it, sitting on something like a fence post probably makes you
feel like a big man. What a pity there isn't one in the same room there as
you.

Do you have a real name, and address, or just a number?

Regards,
John

I've discovered that this Speedbyrd character is like a cockroach - he also
infests other places . Check Google - he's out there on some Korean new age
music site discussing neighbors tanning nude! Definitely the class clown.
