PowerFLARM Portable Firmware Update: 6.02
PowerFLARM Portable users should update to version 6.02 ASAP. There was a
bug in version 6.00 which caused it to show "Towplane" as the aircraft type
when it should have displayed "glider". That may have caused users to select
the wrong aircraft type. After you upgrade be sure to verify the aircraft
type setting.

Ok, found it, but it's just for the portable unit right?

Our club had a bunch more "towplanes" that got put back to gliders.
The other problem is that the Flarm Configuration Tool, asks for device
type:
FLAPFC10A through FLAPD11E
The serial number shows in the FLARMCSV file, but how do we figure what
kind of FLAP.... we have, especially with the Cores which are typically
buried where the label is not visible.

Look in a downloaded IGC file and you'll see a line like this,
around 25 lines from the beginning of the file:
LFLA16145707DEVNO FLAPFC10A-000127
Hope that helps!

There is one firmware file for all PowerFLARM devices (portable and brick):

Hope that helps,

My FLARM read Towplane when I first turned it on, but I changed it to Sailplane...........Do Really need to re-program to 6.02?

I changed it to Glider, but I suspect the change did not stick. Have a
look at your unit after you power it up.

I think the problem JJ, is that no matter what you select it still thinks you're a towplane.
Updated to 6.02 this morning and it worked fine for practice say at PAGC

The power has been off and back on, several times and it still reads Glider.

This thread is a bit confusing.
The heading specifically states Portable. Further down the thread there is reference that there is only one firmware for both the core and the portable. So is this updated firmware 6.02 needed for both the core and the portable? Is this issue of thinking it's a tow plane an issue for both the portable and the core? Should everyone thus upgrade from 6.0 to version 6.02? Even if the configuration is showing "glider" not "towplane"?

Hi,
The upgrade notes state that the major change only applies to the Portable.
The Core doesn't display aircraft type information. The bug in version 6.00
was in the part of the software that affects the way the Portable displays
the aircraft type.
If you change the aircraft type in a Portable which as software version
6.00, it will set the aircraft type incorrectly in the PowerFLARM hardware.
It is setting the integer vale that stores the aircraft type incorrectly.
It then reads it incorrectly too. So, it is important for all PowerFLARM
Portable owners to upgrade to version 6.02 and then verify that the aircraft
type is set correctly.

Hi JJ,
Yes. You need to upgrade. PowerFLARM Portables with firmware 6.00 set and
read and display the glider type incorrectly.

Will this firmware update also solve the problem with nuisance danger traffic warnings during tow when tow plane is Flarm equipped?
