View Full Version : Tiny loggers

May 7th 15, 04:43 PM
Just bought a new Tiny(TM) logger to replace my trusty but defunct Volkslogger. Just looking at it, it seems that what it is, is an automobile GPS navigator that was washed in hot water and dried on high heat.

Seriously, well, semi-seriously, this new logger is a marvel. It slices, it dices, it cures the heartbreak of psoriasis. It is practically a whole instrument/nav suite in a matchbox. The thing has GYROS and stuff!

So, inquiring minds and all: can this thing be hacked to do more? Seems like it could be. Heck, I think there are microwave ovens running XCSoar now.

WB- stuck in an office with Cu's popping outside...

Great review; where do I find specs and buy one?

Got mine at Bells and Whistles (aka Wings & Wheels).

Hi

I would like to share in your excitement, but cannot find in on the Wingsandwheels site. There are four loggers, arguably all of them tiny, but none "Tiny(TM). Google is also failing. Would you please post a link?

Thanks

Paul

It isn't listed as an approved logger on the IGC web site nor as a
nationally approved position recorder! There are lots of devices that
will provide an IGC file without security for personal interest only.

I assume he is talking about a Nano III

OK, I'll do a "P3" and say....

"At first, I thought this was about very short people that cut down trees....."

As to whether or not it can be hacked, likely.
Will it be accepted for badges/records/OLC? Not as likely.

Yes, the Nano 3. Didn't think anyone would take my goofy post seriously. It is a pretty cool little box and it certainly could do more than it does. Why else would it be equipped with inertial sensors and 3 axis gyros?

I'd second that. Our Junior's bought a nano3 logger for badge flights and it has performed extremely well and is easy to use. Nice device.
