I finished another soaring shirt design. Lift Is Good. Almost like the Life Is Good clothing line only way better because it has lift which definitely makes a glider pilot's life better than good. Lots of styles and colors available. Make sure you check out the front and back sides.

So proceeds are to promote soaring via the Connecticut Soaring Association?

Four of my order for the last issue were incorrect, I got a refund but it was a little disappointing, beware of the colours being wrong.

Yes Frank. Proceeds from the sales will be donated to CSA.

I worked to make sure all the color combinations would be correct with this design as the maker didn't outline some of the details like the original artwork. Sorry about the hassles and glad you got the refund.

It's all good Greg, the fundraising money got where it was meant to. I will probably order some of these as well.

If they are not good again we will have to sentence you to 6 months of soaring here in Queensland surrounded by Aussies as your penance, :)

Now that would be a punishment I would really like to pay back to society.

Here's an idea: a silhouette of something akin to the Concordia with the words "Fly Open". ;-)

And another, kind of a double entendre. GREEN AIR for me!

Those are good. I've also thought about making one with a 25m open class ship flying over a 13m with the relative wingspans fully apparent and the tag line something like: Size Matters.

"Green"... Hahahahahahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I say that because just the other day one of the airport bums told me
that his daughter drives a "green" Tesla. He also told me that, where
she lives, all of the electricity (read that recharging her car) is
generated by burning coal. I just shake my head.

Of course, other than a gallon or two of gas (less on a ground launch)
the sailplane is pretty "green". Except that it's generally white. ;-)

Dan, the model sailplane guys call thermals "green air", nothing environmentally correct about that. I know it sounds funny and I cringe every time I hear it.

"Green Air" was a term we used in the very early days of Hang Gliding, when we were experimenting with the old Makiki pellet variometers. In lift, the green pellet would float in its tube (hence "green air") and when sinking, the red pellet would rise. I am sure a lot of oldtimers in the sailplane world also remember this.

Green air comes from the old pellet varios that had green for up and red for down. This was all before we knew there was something called the "environment".

There are fat soaring pilots?

I get it now, a nod to the past. I'm all for that!

I've got a lot of respect for RC pilots having tried it myself in the
early 70s. For me each flight ended with a complete rebuild... :-[

Yeah, I knew about pellet variometers. I was thinking of the enviro
dead horse thing. I like the old time stuff though I cringe when I
think of my LS-6a cockpit. How many switches and knobs were there on
that VP3
