Can anyone advise on how much difference I will experience
on FS'04 using a 128MB DDR GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Card
vs. the New 128MB DDR ATI RADEONT 9800 Pro Graphics Card?

This will be on a 3gig, P4 with 512MB dual channel.

I'm a beginner trying to decide if it's worth paying $140 extra for
the Radeon.

Thanks!

Hi mzungurob,

I went from a FX5200 to a Radeon 9600 Pro, and with my system I could max
out the sliders and got nearly double the frame rate. My system is AMD 2600
and 1 GB dual channel .

What you have to watch out for, is that you can't just swap in the new board
and install the new drivers. nVidia and Radeon driversdon't mix on the same
machine. You can get a utility to remove all traces of a m'fers diles (dlls
etc) but this didn't work for me - kept getting crashes until I reformatted
C: and reinstalled XP with thenew card from scratch. Lot of mucking about,
but worth it for me.

A 9800 Pro should really give you some grunt, but I have found heaven with
much less money for the 9600 - if you do yhink along these lines, get the
9600XT.

Hope this helps,
Ashley
