I'm looking for a few replacement screws for access panels on my Blanik L33 Solo. The screws are M4x14 hex heads. The odd part: They are a very low oval head and the countersink taper is about 120 degrees. They are much like countersunk rivets (same angle).
I have been quoted by the factory with a lofty price....$21.40 EACH!
Does anyone know if a source for these in the US? I am not sure if these have a specific DIN #.
Thanks, Wade

Check mcmaster.com

Oval head may be what you're looking for

Been there already. The common oval head available is only in the 90 degree range. I'm wondering if any L-29 or L-39 folks know what I'm referencing since LET Aircraft built Blanik's and L-29s.

Buy the McMaster screws, have a local machinist recut the head to the required angle.

Is the same screw used anywhere in the L-13? If so, there are hundreds of them out there waiting to be useful.

I imagine that Blanik America will have what you need. I have used them several times and nearly always have what I need in stock, nuts, bolts, bearings, etc. http://home.nwi.net/~blanikam/ba/home.htm

Yes, at $21 per screw, as stated earlier in this thread.

I try to make five or ten of these for you today. I'll get some SS M4x15 90-degree screws and undercut the heads to 110-deg so they'd work OK for either 100 or 120 holes.

Ultimately what I likely will do is dimple to 90 degrees so for the non structural spots, I can use the ones at ACE hardware's "AN" section...
I think the high cost from Blanik is because the screws are not made anymore. That might have been the cost to have them manufactured again.

I have seven of those screws, contact me off-list with a mailing address and I'll get them in the mail.
