Does anyone have any experience wintering their rv and glider at Pleasant Valley Airport, formerly Turf Soaring which is located north of Phoenix AZ? I would be interested to hear your experience. Do they fly in the winter? RV hookups? Noise from the nearby racetrack? Recommended? Are their any other RV glider airparks good for wintering that are located in warm weather?

I keep my motorglider in a T hangar there and am reasonable happy. The hangar gets awfully dusty and buggy though and my airplane has picked up a few dings from running around on gravel. There is narrow paving on the main runway.

I don't know much about the RV park except that, driving by, it looks like most of the trailers and other vessels there are aged and perhaps dilapidated. I think that most residents are not actually flying types but more like retirees and dole takers.

Tows are available most days by prior arrangement with the operator. Like at most every gliderport around the country, activity has declined sharply over the years. On the plus side, I think you are more likely here, than anyplace else in the country, to get in good soaring days in the off season. AZ can have great soaring days in the shoulder seasons.
