2017 Petersburg, WV Wave Camp

There will be a wave camp in Petersburg, West Virginia this Spring
sponsored by Stahl Flying Services (the Grant County FBO) and supported by Shenandoah Valley Soaring with towing and ground support.

The terrain around Petersburg produces some of the best wave in the region and the airport is perfectly situated for entry into the wave. A wave window to 23,000 feet MSL exists.

This year, the camp will include more educational information about wave, wave weather and also try to have more social events. Larry Stahl would also like to have some advance registration for planning purposes.

The Dates of the Wave Camp are a bit later this year because of many conflicts.

The Dates are Friday, March 24, 2017 thru Sunday, April 2, 2017.

The wave camp now has a website with information, a schedule and pictures

I can confirm the quality of the wave over Petersburg, WV! Got my diamond altitude there may moons ago.

Me too - Good way to do an all east coast Diamond - going out west is too easy.

The scenery and the soaring conditions at that time of the year in Petersburg, WV are fabulous. And you could not find more accommodating hosts than Larry Stahl and the Shenandoah Valley Soaring club. That week will see reliable wave, ridge and thermal soaring conditions along the leading edge of the beautiful Appalachian mountains at the Allegheny plateau. A camp not to be missed.
