Looks like an V-1 made big enough to hold a pilot on a one-way mission...

"Place in history: Late in the war, several piloted V-1s were built. The plan
was that a pilot would guide the missile into position close to its target and
bail out at the last moment. It was essentially a suicide mission, as it would
have been very difficult to open the canopy against the wind resistance and in
the unlikely event that the pilot was able to climb out he would have
undoubtedly have been sucked into the intake of the engine.

"This manned missile killed several pilots during landing in flight tests. All
of the Reichenbergs were air-launched from planes, unlike the unmanned V-1s that
were mostly fired from ground-based catapult ramps. The war ended before Germany
could use the Reichenberg in combat.

Thanks - an interesting picture.

What's the aircraft with the painted-out swastika - the one between the
Reichenberg and the levitating Condor?

Dunno...just guessing but it looks like the pics were taken after the war and
the captured aircraft were on display with British insignia repainted on them.

I believe it is original. The FHC prides itself on original specimens
and accurate restoration. They also have the only flying Fw 190,
complete with BMW engine.

Some more of the Fi 103 from a few years back.

Looks like a late model Ju-88. And I think the 'Condor' is actually
an He 177...?

Everybody seems to be giving me Greif today but, mea culpa, you're correct,
it's not a Condor. But tua culpa also as it's not an He 177 either. I now
think it's a Ju 352.

Oh, and I also reckon that's a Ju 188 rather than an 88.

I say all this not because my recognition of parts of aircraft has suddenly
improved but rather because I've come across a photograph which shows this
aircraft line-up in context. I'll post it shortly.
