It's prolly where a ****-ton condos are now sitting.
I can't get past pic 109696.jpg...open cockpit, leather helmets, long tubular
gunsight...hard to imagine being able to actually hit (or even come near) your
target under those conditions.

there is only one spot that has streams/river like that on Oahu and the
shape and the bridges or roads do not match. still trying to figure that
out.
as far as the dive bombing, couple of photos from the LIFE archives..

Back in the day when I was in flight school, I was given a two week gunship
course at Ft Rucker. The C-Model gunship had a 40mm cannon in the chin area.
When firing while in a dive, the ship had to be in perfect trim...if you were
slightly yawed to the right the round went down and to the right...if yawed
left, it went up and to the left. The final result was always the same...you
missed the target...by alot!
It was caused by the spin of the round hitting the slip-stream in just the wrong
way.
