The Dutch pilots visiting Vågå Wavecamp in 2003 made a very nice video
from their stay. The video is now available on
http://www2.wavecamp.no/gallery/
(380 MB, mpeg2 format, 12 mins duration.)
Merry Christmas to you all!

One question.
Why are they boring holes in the ice.

The MPEG2 decoder isn't free, so Windows Media 9 can't decode it. I
found a trial decoder at http://www.elecard.com/download/#mpeg2decoder
that I was able to use to view the movie.
Interesting location for a wave camp, fjord + winter = 4 ft. plus of
ice = instant LONG and wide runway. But I noticed the wing runner
needed ice skates.
Hope this helps.

FYI:
The Michelin commercial was produced in the USA in Alaska
with the help of the pilots of Alaska Wing of the Civil Air
Patrol.

Regarding the Wave video I just received the following information by
mail:
We recently found out that if you burn the video on a cd, most cheap
DVD-players can run it on your television. Gives very goor quality.
Some additional information based on questions received:
The airfiled is on a lake in the middel of Southern Norway (370 m QNH).
This year the ice was 80 cm thick.
The are drilling holes in the ice to be able to anchor trailers and
gliders.

Anders

The only way I could get my son to go to the airport with me would be if he
could fish on the runway.
Where did I go wrong?

The "wavecamp 2003" video and some others are now also available at:
irene.vanderzwan.org
(all except the Dune-running film are in MPEG-2 format, so you might
require a codec for this)

We bore holes to anchor the gliders and also, if there are water on the
ice we drill holes to "drain" the surface.
