The seminar is tailored to cross-country pilots of all skill levels.
We have assembled a wide array of topics with our very best speakers
including Canadian Champions and World Class Soaring Pilots. For
those about to embark on cross-country or competition flying or those
who just want to know how the good guys do it, this is the seminar for
you.
There will be two concurrent sessions throughout the day. One
tailored to "experience challenged" pilots who are still seeking their
silver badge and the other tailored to more advanced cross country
pilots or those who want to fly faster and farther and/or make the
transition into contest flying. Ed Hollestelle Sr. will talk about
his experience competing at the 2003 World Gliding Contest in Lesno
Poland, as well as the benefits and challenges of competitive soaring.
Some of the topics from our last seminar included: soaring weather,
thermals and thermalling, flight preparation, glider performance and
glide calculations, controlled airspace, TDT tasks, flying wave in NZ
and PA and Lake Placid, loggers and GPS helpers, "Fly Farther - Go
Faster".
The fee for the day is $25 for CAS members and $50 for non-members
(2004 CAS membership included). Lunch is included as well as
refreshments during the morning and afternoon breaks.
(when was the last time you were invited to attend an all day seminar
with lunch for only $50 bucks?)
A detailed agenda will be available on the CAS website and SAC
roundtable soon.
