Hi All

Just saw this movie here and i was wondering what glider it is?
Is it a Swift S-1 or SZD 59 Acro ? Or another glider

This is a flight by Malgosia Marganska , the daughter
of the constructor, showing some very nice aerobatics

Jiminy, I am not sure what ship it is, but what the
hell do you call a tail-slide, into two reverse tumbles,
into some sort of inverted spin, in a glider? All
female Polish pilots look like her?

Yes but take a closer look at Tail. The Swift has some sort of strange =
rudder like the MDM1 fox with a cut into it at the back of the rudder, =
while the SZD 59 Acro has a straight back at the rudder:

Swift S-1:

SZD 59=20

Take a look at the movie about 4:57 - i think i can see the cut in the =
tail with a closer look.?!

Don't look at the glider! Is the aileron hinge ugly? No.
Is the elevator attach pin ugly? No. Is the
dive brake ugly? No. Wear a blindfold
until you get realll close. Do your preflight real close up,
and then jump in. Assume people are laughing at your hat.
It's that simple...

There's a reason ugly people (like me) make love in the dark.
It's still fun, but I wouldn't want to have to WATCH it...

A PW5 Man calling a Swift ugly? There's a case of the kettle calling
the pot black if I ever heard one (<G>!).

Yes, It's a Swift, which is lovely glider to fly - more like a fighter
than a sailplane, makes you want to do rolls on tow, the ailerons are
so powerful and smooth!

They should have made it the World Class glider - then we could have
done acro on non-contest days - and thermalled inverted! Of course,
landouts at 70 knots would be a bit interesting!

KC, I had the same problem, go to the site mentionned in the other
post and download the DivX Player version 1.x - it's buried in the
site a bit: Go to the SUPPORT section, then open item 8 ("Playing
video on Windows Media Player or Real Play"). It will link you to the
download of the needed DivX Player.

Got to stop talking about the Swift, my LS6 is getting jealous...

Beauty is as beauty does. I am VERY happy with my Swift. It is fully
capable of the entire gamut of unlimited glider aerobatics.

BTW, there was no tumble in that movie. I don't know anyone who knows
how to make a glider tumble. Tumbles are in the class of gyroscopic
maneuvers which gliders have a real hard time doing since they have no
gyroscope (engine/prop).

What looked sort of like an inverted spin after one of the tailslides
was actually a negative snap roll of 1 1/2 turns. If you look hard
you can see the nose push away from the downline as the snap roll
begins.

The only time I think my Swift is a little ugly is when my crew has
deserted me when I need to assemble or disassemble the wings. They
are VERY heavy.

If you have a look at the entire program which this clip is taken from,
you will see her do a landout with an MDM Fox in a field! There's a lot
of incomprehensible Polish conversation to fast forwart through, though.

The entire video can be found here:

Relax, Mark, I'm not the one who called the PW-5 ugly - odd perhaps,
but not ugly.

I'm much of the opinion that any glider attached to the stick that I'm
holding is beautiful, especially if it's climbing!

Well, maybe not the the 2-33, that's an UGLY glider even when it's
climbing! Which is why I always fly it from the back seat, that way
nobody can see me in there...JUST KIDDING, ALL YOU 2-33 FANS - relax
and go back to drilling holes through hockey pucks or something (<G>).

Anyway, who cares if it's ugly as long as it flies, right?. Or, as we
used to say, real men go ugly early...

Sheesh, some people are soooo touchy.
