Such is the legacy of Pan Am's Juan Trippe, who insisted on an onboard
lounge, like the Boeing 377...

And here I am thinking it was because the 747 was originally designed
as part of the military competition for a freighter that the C-5 won.
Trippe was then able to use the hump that Boeing had used in their
design for a bar.
